Fun fact: Aphrodite used to be a war/love god when she first arrived to the ancient greek pantheon. She was adopted by the Spartans when they enslaved some helots and helots were randomly just like "Hey man wanna check out our religion?" and the Spartans were like "Why not?" So they took this ancient Fertility/War goddess and worshipped her. When it spread to other greeks though, they didn't like the idea of a woman on a battle field so they removed the whole war part. I mean, Athena showed up so i could only assume Athena was a later adopted goddess when greek opinions changed a bit, but Aphrodite being a pure love goddess still remained. Aphrodite's origins with Sparta is probably why her main bitch is Ares.
Did you also know that Aphrodite was born from the castrated genitalia of Zeus' grandfather when it fell from the heavens and into the sea?
